The year our family transitioned from high school to Party buses, P plates & part time work, our beloved guard dog and anytime walking companion Roman also passed away.
The kids were now driving, travelling, studying late in libraries, shift working, ride sharing, going to the gym or heading out for a run at dawn. Coupled with the alarming rise in random acts of violence on the streets and in homes, I was concerned for their safety and felt vulnerabe alone at night without Roman.
I went looking for something that would empower everyone to feel safer while still enjoying their independence.
I couldn’t find anything legal, or even anything outside the rules! Nothing that couldn’t be used to hurt us if we were overpowered. Even pepper spray is illegal in all states except WA, and it’s not ideal.
Just prior to Roman joining our family, I remembered advice given by the police who came to our house after we were woken by a second brazen burglary.
“The best deterrents are sensor lights and a dog! Bright lights and barking attract attention, which is the last thing a perpetrator wants.”
We needed to bring these fundamental elements together into a portable device that can go anywhere.
With life’s ever- changing landscape and our nomadic lifestyles, I’m excited to introduce MySiren to the Australian market.
